Kevlar protection is stronger than steel on an equal-weight basis. Both the leather and the Kevlar fiber offer good protection against moderate heat hazards. Split leather surfaces on the palm absorb cutting oil and grease, making it easier to grip slippery objects. Quality design includes extra reinforcement in the thumb crotch, the first place most gloves wear out.
